12th - 17th August
Choreographed and Directed by Alan Parker
At the heart of “Detritus” is an imaginative and playful engagement with the intangibility of live performance. By its nature, performance is ephemeral, disappearing just as quickly as it appears. When the event is over nothing of the actual performance remains, except for the detritus - in the form of costumes and props and the (often flawed) recollection of the experience in the memories of the audience. “Detritus” presents three performers and their attempts to remember, retell and recreate their own personal experience of watching a performance event from their past for the audience in the present. The detritus left over from these various performance events become the catalysts for the performers’ memories and the objects they toil with to recreate an echo of their original experience of watching.
